This move is aimed at providing developers with advanced scanning capabilities for multi-platform applications.
React Native, an open-source framework by Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) (Facebook), enables developers to create applications for multiple platforms using a single codebase. Socket Mobile’s latest offering, SocketCam C860, is a subscription-based version that promises to turn any mobile device into a high-performing scanning tool, capable of reading damaged and difficult-to-read barcodes under various conditions.
According to Dave Holmes, Chief Business Officer at Socket Mobile, the SocketCam C860 for React Native represents a significant development for developers who cater to users with diverse scanning needs, from basic to advanced. The C860 is designed to offer superior performance in reading damaged barcodes and operating in poor lighting, aiming to increase productivity and efficiency for its users.
The company’s CaptureSDK, which now includes SocketCam, allows application providers to maintain a single SDK integration, making it easier for end users to switch between free camera scanning and advanced software scanning, as well as dedicated hardware scanners as their needs evolve.
Socket Mobile emphasizes that integrating CaptureSDK is free for app developers, providing a one-stop solution for accessing both hardware and software products. This integration is intended to support consistent data capture performance across various customer requirements.
For React Native developers to utilize the new features of CaptureSDK with SocketCam, they must update their applications to the latest version with SocketCam enabled. This enhancement gives end users the flexibility to choose between the free C820 version or upgrade to the C860, maintaining Socket Mobile’s commitment to accessibility.
