NEW YORK – Applied UV, Inc. (NASDAQ:AUVI), specializing in smart building technology, announced today that its SteriLumen subsidiary has filed for a new patent with the USPTO. The patent, titled “Disinfection System Comprised of Multiple Wavelengths Each Controlled Optimally,” aims to enhance environmental cleanliness in healthcare settings, particularly operating rooms.

The proposed system, named PURONet Control System, integrates continuous and terminal disinfection methods to optimize safety and efficiency in medical environments. The system includes the Puro Protect 222 for non-invasive disinfection during room occupancy and the Helo LED system for deep cleaning when spaces are unoccupied.

Applied UV estimates the annual market for this technology to exceed $150 million, with around 4,000 operating rooms undergoing renovation each year in the U.S. The demand for such innovative disinfection methods has escalated due to the inadequacy of traditional chemical-based approaches, especially in occupied spaces.

The SteriLumen subsidiary has already provided its disinfection systems to several prestigious institutions, including the University of Chicago Medical Center and Mass General, Harvard University.

The Puro Protect 222 system offers continuous disinfection suitable for high-traffic areas, while the Helo LED system targets a broad spectrum of pathogens for thorough terminal disinfection. The intelligent PURONet Control System manages both systems, adjusting based on real-time occupancy data.

Applied UV’s CEO, Max Munn, emphasized the company’s commitment to building a robust intellectual property portfolio that aligns with their strategic focus on delivering energy-efficient, effective air disinfection systems for healthcare customers.

This announcement is based on a press release statement and is intended to inform about Applied UV’s ongoing efforts in advancing healthcare disinfection technology. The information provided reflects the company’s current view and future expectations, which are subject to inherent uncertainties, risks, and changes.
